Noche de Cuentos

We tell our stories so they live beyond us.

ABOUT NOCHE DE CUENTOS

Who will tell the history of our community?

After reflecting on their shared interest in art, literature, and performance, Erica Ledesma, Raul Tovar, and Cesar Flores began asking themselves questions that felt both simple and urgent:

Who will tell the history of our community? How will our stories be carried forward? What will our children and grandchildren know about where we came from, what we lived through, and what we have built together?

This became the heart of Noche de Cuentos.

For generations, our communities have carried knowledge through stories. Before stories were written down, they were spoken, remembered, repeated, and passed from one person to another.

Our abuelas, abuelos, mothers, fathers, tías, and tíos have long been storytellers, carrying family histories, lessons, humor, traditions, and memories through the spoken word.

Passed from one person to another.

STORIES CARRY MEMORY

THE GATHERING - NOCHE DE CUENTOS

Food. Music. Stories. Community.

Together, they created a live storytelling gathering that brings people together through food, music, and the sharing of personal stories.

At Noche de Cuentos, you might find the smell of Mexican hot chocolate filling the room, original songs from local artists, and stories that hold laughter, grief, migration, family, struggle, love, and everyday life.

In the language that first carried our memories.

EN ESPAÑOL

Noche de Cuentos was intentionally created in Spanish, recognizing the importance of having opportunities for Spanish speakers to express themselves creatively in the language that first carried their memories, their relationships, and their understanding of the world.

Inspired in part by The Moth, TED Talks, and The Hearth, Noche de Cuentos also draws from something much older: the tradition of gathering together and passing knowledge through story.
